Behind the Scenes: Autumn-Winter 2018 Collection

Welcome to our Autumn Winter 2018 Collection – inspired by blue skies, open meadows and days spent exploring.  The colors, prints and silhouettes remind us what children like best – time spent outdoors, friendships and an inherent curiosity about the world.  Today we go behind the scenes to give you a glimpse of some of the choices in designing this collection – bringing a timeless and distinctive look for your little ones this season.

Versatile Color Palette

Our color palette took inspiration from nature.  It gave us a canvas of warm and cool shades that reflected our bias of the outdoors.  We like how the soft colors feel gentle on children and the darker shades give a feeling of fullness and warmth as the weather grows nippier. 

Soft, Cozy Cotton Fabrics

The choice and range of fabrics is always key and has become the mainstay of the collection.  Cotton is both a sustainable and versatile medium to work with and different fabrics can be used to match the mood and need of the changing season. 

For AW 2018, we are using voiles, cambric, twill and corduroy as our basics this Fall.  We love cotton voile for its softness and breathability and the bright double gauze fabrics in mulberry gingham and red and navy plaid were instant winners.   Cambric is another great choice for children and the meadow print in the Hadley top and the classic pale print in the Max top are amazingly soft and look gorgeous. 

Twill, a slightly heavier fabric with a textured weave, in both solid and plaid is also a staple in this collection.  Twill is comfortable, warm with a lovely cozy feel for early winter days.   The Lulu dress in Blush is a signature piece and we think the plaid skirts deserve a place in every girl’s wardrobe!

And finally, the collection features a line of skirts and pants in soft baby corduroy that is both rugged and comfortable at the same time, does not chafe and looks brilliant.

Timeless Styles with a Modern Look

The fabrics and styles are combined to be timeless and feel beautiful in the modern day.  We designed looks that are simple for children but also gives them a way to express themselves.   Each garment is fresh, bright and natural with enough detail to make it pop.  There is just that something special for your little ones’ discerning tastes – whether they are twirlers, traditionalist or trend-setters!
